Marc Wilkins

Professor Marc Wilkins is the Deputy Dean (research and enterprise) in the Faculty of Science at UNSW Sydney. He developed the concept of the proteome and coined the term, and currently studies the role of post-translational modifications in the regulation of protein translation and of chromatin. He also has extensive experience in genomics, and was Director of the Ramaciotti Centre for Genomics from 2011 to 2022. This Centre is the largest technical centre for genomics at any Australian university. Marc has co-founded two biotechnology companies – both which were ultimately listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). He has advised the NSW State Government, the Australian Federal Government and the Government of New Zealand on aspects of science policy.
